Le Grenier (sleeps 2)

A charming apartment created in what was the grain store of the farmhouse and still retaining many of the original features from the 17th century. Accessed by an exterior stairway at the end of the house, this gite provides comfortable accommodation for a couple. The living area is open plan providing generous lounge and dining areas and a fully equipped kitchen (with gas cooker, fridge, washing machine, and microwave). There is a double bedroom which leads to a shower room with washbasin and toilet. The large south facing windows overlook the gardens and the fields beyond. For our winter guests there is the added pleasure of a traditional wood-burning stove.

L’Ecurie (sleeps 5)

Ten years ago this would have been home to a couple of dozen Charentaise cattle but now it provides somewhat more comfortable accommodation in the form of a two-bedroom cottage. Entrance to this north facing gite is via a private walled terrace (with it’s own table, chairs, and BBQ), which is decorated from spring to autumn with geraniums and lavendar. The lounge and dining kitchen (which was completely refitted in January 2008 with new cupboards, washing machine, fridge, and gas cooker) are separated by a central stairway which leads to the bathroom and the bedrooms. Both bedrooms are spacious and uncluttered, although well provided with drawer and hanging facilitie.

Le Marronnier (sleeps 6)

This is the original farmhouse of Les Capucines and is by far the largest of our properties. With all windows facing south, it is warmed by the Charentaise sunshine from April to October and in midsummer the shutters are vital. Entrance is into the large kitchen which, as in most farmhouses, doubles as the dining room. This room is welcoming at all times of the year and really is the heart of the house. The kitchen has been extended in 2008 and, along with the cooker, washing machine and microwave, now includes a large fridge/freezer and a dishwasher.  Along the hallway we come to the lounge which is very comfortably furnished. Further along the hallway you will find a twin bedroom and a bathroom with washbasin, bath, and toilet. Upstairs there are two further bedrooms, one with two single beds and the other with a double bed. There is also a shower room upstairs, once again with washbasin and toilet.  All bedrooms have ample drawer and hanging space.
